Divorce, Paternity and Custody

The most personal and sometimes the most difficult of our areas of practice is in domestic relations: divorce, paternity and child support cases, child custody actions, adult abuse or child protection actions, and motions to modify existing decress or judgments, among others. These cases are very trying times for our clients, whose family life, relationships with their children, and financial futures are often at stake.   Mr. Rubin has 27 years of experience in domestic relations cases, and a substantial record of success, demonstrated by a high rate of repeat clients in this area. Our focus is giving you patience, understanding and the best legal advice possible in the circumstances, to allow you the best result you can achieve.

If you are considering  or are going through a divorce or other family-related issues, give us a call today at (636) 916-3300 or (314) 726-5252.

Never is the personal life of a client more exposed and more at risk than in these so-called “domestic relations” cases. We view these cases as special challenges in our practice because at perhaps no other time are our clients  personal lives so affected, and never are our clients more reliant upon us.  Thus, we foster a great deal of trust between lawyer and client in these matters.  We view these cases as golden opportunities to make lifelong clients and friends.

Whether in a dissolution of marriage, a paternity case, a child custody case, a motion to modify an existing decree in one of these areas, or an adult or child protection case, we have more than 27 years’ experience, and a working knowledge of the courts and judges throughout eastern Missouri, and Southern Illinois, and especially in St. Louis and St. Charles Counties.  Click on the “Call Me” button on this page or call us at 314-726-5252 or 636-916-3300 to discuss your case and set up a free consultation at our offices.

Our Approach:  While we bcp5664_father_with_childelieve in reasonable compromise as a foundation for effective handling of these cases in recognition of the competing rights of spouses and parents, it is a simple fact that there are some issues for some clients where compromise is impossible—where further ground cannot be sacrificed. We view our job as one to help our clients determine which path to follow with regard to the issues in their cases, and to guide them on the path that leads to the best overall result. Many of these cases take a give-take approach; others do not and cannot. In any event, our goal is achieving excellent results for our clients.

Legal Fees Are Too High:  We believe that many firms specializing in divorce or custody work charge unreasonable fees.  Mr. Rubin has 27 years experience in domestic relations cases and he is capable, well-informed and knowledgeable of the law and courts involved in this area of practice.  The difference is that our fees will be substantially lower.

To be sure, you do not want a cheap lawyer working on such matters, but  we treat you with respect--you won't be paying for nickel-and-dime administrative expenses, file maintenance  or normal copying charges, amongst others.  But the biggest difference is in our philosophy:  we do not  look at these cases as an opportunity to bilk clients with legal fees by juicing their expectations in a case to unreasonable and unrealitic levels and litigating the case forever.  Our approach is to help our clients to adopt reasonable expectations in a “real-world” approach to our cases from the first interview.  And we understand that our clients, being in the real world, have a lot of other bills to pay and will likely need flexibility in payment arrangements. This is all a part of our practice on domestic relations cases.

If you, a family member or a friend are in need of legal counsel in preparation for a domestic relations case, or representation in a pending case, please click the ”Call me” button above and we will be happy to set a free 30-minute consultation with you in person.  You can click the “Call Me” button on this page, or call us at (636) 916-3300 or (314) 726.5252.

We look forward to helping you deal with these very important and personal issues.
